China’s leading professional exhibition focusing on plant-based diets and plant-based products, VeggieWorld, was held at the end of September in Shanghai. At the event, AkoPlanet™, AAK’s portfolio with tailor-made solutions for food manufacturers developing plant-based alternatives, made its first appearance in the Chinese market.
VeggieWorld attracted more than 100 different brands, NGOs, media, start-ups, traditional food manufacturers, traders, and end consumers. Many key players across the supply chain, who are leading the dialogue and evolution in the plant-based space, participated at the event. AAK leveraged the exhibition to introduce, for the first time in China, its AkoPlanet™ range and capabilities.
The company showcased five local plant-based meat and beverage solutions, providing potential global, Asian and Chinese customers with an oils and fats platform for China, allowing them to enhance the sensory, nutritional and functional performance of their current and future product portfolios.
“The exhibition allowed us to continue to build upon our plant-based ecosystem, position and brand in this rapidly evolving space”, said Raymond Due, General Manager at AAK China. “We also had the opportunity to forge new relationships within Chinese academia and start actual co-development projects with several local manufacturers.”
In addition, AAK was included in a select group of organizations involved in the drafting process of a new plant-based food labeling, standard and certification protocol for China.
“Our journey here has just begun”, said Raymond Due. “We are very excited and look forward to work with new and old partners in bringing new plant-based ideas and products to China and the region.”
