Soy

Strong commitments for a high potential supply chain

Better sourcing of soy

Rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, soybean oil is mainly relevant for AAK in regard to its use in baking fats, mayonnaise, salad and cooking oils, as an ingredient in margarine and within our Special Nutrition segment.

Soybean oil is one of the most versatile commodities, with a large number of applications. The biggest consumers are China, the US, Argentina, and Brazil.

The main producing countries of soy are the US, Brazil, Argentina, India, and China. In terms of volume, soybean oil is a relatively small-scale raw material for AAK. However, since there are sustainability risks within the production of soybeans, especially related to deforestation, soy is part of our list of key raw materials in better sourcing. We are committed to achieving 100 percent verified deforestation-free supply chains for soy by 2025.
