A very large part of the learning in the AAK Trainee Program comes from working the actual position; the specific and concrete personal experiences and learnings of performing a job. On a day-to-day basis your manager will ensure proper coaching and feedback for your development.
This list of learning and development activities designed for the AAK Trainee program is thus only a small portion of the things you will learn during your first year:
Trainee Session One – Kick-Off (mid-September)
Part of the on-boarding to AAK covering topics such as Trainee Program information, teambuilding, AAK introductions, Business Acumen and launch of the Trainee Project.
Operational Module (October)
The four-week Operational Module takes place at one or more of our European production sites and will give you an in-depth knowledge of the operational value chain from reception of raw materials to the delivery of the finished product to our customers.
Operational Rotations – operations track only (November)
4 x 1 week internal rotations to functions adjacent to your position immediately after the Operational Module to reinforce the learnings from the module and give you a hands-on experience of the operational value chain.
Trainee Session Two – Personal Pit Stop (mid-January)
Designed to reinforce your personal and professional development including workshops on efficiency and effectiveness, teambuilding and case work. You and your managers will receive individual feedback on your team working skills and development opportunities.
International Assignment (March)
Trainees swap positions within their respective tracks. You will be tasked with taking over each other’s positions including handing over their own position to a fellow Trainee for the duration of the assignment. While away you have to keep yourself updated with the progress in your own position and support your fellow Trainee.
Commercial Module (May)
The two-week Commercial Module takes place within our European and Nordics commercial organization and will give you in-depth knowledge of the commercial value chain within Bakery, Dairy, CCF and Infant Nutrition.
Commercial Rotations – Commercial track only (May)
4 x 1 week internal rotations to functions adjacent to your position immediately after the Commercial Module to reinforce the learnings from the module and give you a hands-on experience of the commercial value chain.
Formal Training (ongoing throughout the year)
Sales Training or Project Management Training for Commercial or Operations track respectively as well as need-based individual training related to the specific position.
Executive Mentorship (ongoing throughout the year)
During the Trainee Program you will have a mentor at executive level to guide and inspire you.
Trainee Project (September – May)
Cross-functional project on an actual business case owned by one or more Executive Committee members. You will be split in two teams and will compete against each other on both business development insights gained and the actual outcome of the project. You will present your recommendations to the case owners.
