Aarhus United

1871
Aarhus Palmekærnefabrik is established and starts production of oil cakes.

1910

An international network is established.

1940
Operations consolidated and at times account for 10 percent of Denmark’s exports.

1960
Growth and modern production help the company become a market leader within speciality fats.

1970´s
Denmark enters the EU, and tariff barriers are eroded. Bek-Nielsen enters as a major shareholder in 1978.

1982-1991
Globalisation continues, and the subsidiaries UK, USA and Mexico are established.

2003
All operations are gathered under the collective name Aarhus United.


Karlshamns

1918
The production of soybean meal for animal feed comes on stream.

1932
Kooperativa Förbundet acquires the factory.

1942
Important deliveries to the private Swedish margarine industry begins.

1965
Inauguration of the margarine and ice cream factory. A research laboratory is built.

1994
The US operations are sold, as is the margarine and ice-cream production.

1997
The Karlshamns share is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

2001
Melker Schörling acquires the shares held by Kooperativa Förbundet, thereby becoming Karlshamns’ largest shareholder.

2004
Focus on high value-adding speciality fats.


The merger


September 28, 2005

BNS Industrier changes its name to AarhusKarlshamn
As a consequence of BNS Industrier’s completion of the offers for Aarhus United and Karlshamns the company changes its name from BNS Industrier AB to AarhusKarlshamn AB. The new company name has been registered with Bolagsverket.
Trading in the AarhusKarlshamn share will commence on the Nya Marknaden on September 29, 2005 under the ticker AAK.

September 22, 2005
BNS Industrier has received acceptances from shareholders representing 94.3% in Aarhus United and 95.7% in Karlshamns and completes both offers.

September 19, 2005
BNS Industrier has now received clearance from all relevant competition authorities

May 26, 2005
Aarhus United and Karlshamns to merge.
In a stock exchange announcement issued in the morning of May 26 2005, United International Enterprises has announced their plan – in cooperation with Melker Schörling, the main shareholder of Karlshamns AB – to work towards a merger between Aarhus United A/S and Karlshamns AB.
