Pilot Plant Facilities

At our site in Karlshamn, AAK has the opportunity to make pilot plant trials for several of our applications like frying, dairy and bakery. Here we offer our customers a possibility to come and make small scale tests with our products. This is part of our technical service to our customers where we can work practically with our standard recipes, suggestions and process description.

In house we have a small facility with a crystallizer, deep-frying equipment, plate heat exchanger, homogenizer, mixing unit and cheese vat. Here we can do pumpable shortenings, liquid margarine and most dairy applications, like cream, butter-blend and cheese. The batch size we work with here is from 1 to 10 kg.

In the autumn of 2009 a new pilot plant laboratory has been finalised within the same factory area as AAK is situated. The laboratory is a partly EU funded project .It is called CLUK (In Swedish: Centrum för Livsmedelsutveckling i Karlshamn, Center for Food Development in Karlshamn).

This pilot plant laboratory has a wide range of pilot plant equipment including a fully equipped bakery including dough mixer, dough sheeter, raising cabinet and oven and also frying equipment, margarine process including a perfector, heat exchangers, both plate and scrape surface, homogenizer, cheese vat, ice-cream freezing equipment and mixing unit with vacuum to mention a few things. The batch sizes vary from 10 to 100 kg.

We are one of the partners in this project and have the possibility to offer our customers trials with our products in this facility as well.
